Constructed Wetlands for Wastewater Treatment

Constructed wetlands are an established biological wastewater treatment technology used worldwide to deliver reliable pollutant removal alongside wider ecological and social benefits. As interest in nature‑based solutions grows across the UK water sector, there is a clear need for structured, evidence‑based training that connects treatment fundamentals with system behaviour, regulation, and practical implementation.

This course provides water professionals with a technically grounded introduction to treatment wetlands. Using UK‑specific examples and global experience, it explores how these systems work, where they are most effective, and how configuration and operation can support long‑term performance and the delivery of multiple benefits beyond water quality improvement.

The course focuses on the fundamentals of wetland technology, drawing from global knowledge and UK best practice to build a clear understanding of treatment processes, system configurations, and the strategic role of wetlands within modern wastewater management.
