Ballinderry Freshwater Pearl Mussel Programme Fieldtrip 2024

Ballinderry Freshwater Pearl Mussel Programme Fieldtrip 2024
The annual jointly organised trip between the CIWEM Northern Ireland branch and CIWEM Republic of Ireland branch will visit the Ballinderry Rivers Trust to find out about their freshwater pearl mussel conservation programme.

Delegates will visit the Conservation Breed Centre and two farm locations to see interventions that help protect the Upper Ballinderry River SAC, along with presentations from our speakers from the Ballinderry Rivers Trust.

Please note that there are no trains to this venue and there is only an infrequent bus service to Cookstown, which is 4 miles from the venue. Therefore, it is recommended that you travel by car and car share where possible.

Wear walking boots or similar sturdy footwear and bring clean wellies for the farm visits. Biosecurity facilities are provided. Also, wear suitable layers of clothing and a waterproof jacket. Waterproof trousers are not essential but may make you more comfortable should the weather be wet on the day.
