E-Learning - Disinfection - Water and Wastewaters

Following a brief introduction to the basic physical and chemical properties of water, this module will cover disinfection of both potable water (for drinking) and wastewaters (prior to discharge). We consider biological contamination, including the nature of pathogens and their origins, why disinfection is necessary, and then go on to examine the theory of disinfection and include an explanation of Chick's law, ct values and breakpoint chlorination. The underpinning legislation and regulatory framework relating to the biological quality of drinking water and discharges to the aquatic environment are also reviewed, along with discharge and drinking water standards including maximum allowable concentrations [MACs] and organoleptic issues.

The cost of the module is £275.00 (inc. VAT). This module has a learning time equivalent to 6 hours spread over 3-4 weeks.
